Self-care Tips While Planning a Wedding
Affordable self-care ideas you and your partner can do together!
You are probably wondering why you need self-care tips while planning a wedding. You can sleep when you’re dead. Does that idiom sound familiar? I’ve never agreed with it because I love sleep. But also, why exhaust yourself? What is the point? Humans weren’t created to evolve as the most brilliant species on this planet, just so we can stumble around exhausted and burnt out. Planning a massive event with a three-digit guest count can be utterly overwhelming. Even if you hire a wedding planner (you absolutely should) all of the tiny details are so overwhelming. That’s when self-care comes in. However, self-care doesn’t always have to be a singular experience! So here are some fun self-care ideas for couples! If you’re looking for some more individual ideas, check out these ten self-care tips!
Get super gussied up and go eat at McDonald’s.
Okay, this sounds a wee bit weird but imagine how fun it might be! This suggestion is certainly more for extroverted peeps but it could be fun ordering a Big Mac while wearing seventy-two-inch heels or a snazzy AF tux. It doesn’t have to be Mcdonald’s, of course, but somewhere that you’ll be slightly out of place. Or go somewhere you’ll fit in. The point is to create an adventure that you’ll both be able to giggle over in the years to come.
Be Lazy in Bed
In this culture of go, go, go, this can be quite the treat! Maybe take turns making breakfast and coffee for one another. Watch a silly movie. Catch up on things you need to discuss. Cuddle while listening to chill music. It’s a good time to take a breather and bring things back to basics. Planning a wedding can be so damn stressful, so remembering why you’re doing all of that hard work will make it easier to continue.
Go on a picnic
When was the last time you packed a bag with delicious goodies and sat under a tree, noshing on grapes and sammiches? There’s something so simple about sitting on a blanket, feeling the sun dance on your skin, smile at your partner, and enjoy some crackers. It’s affordable, simple, and a fun way to spend time together!
Explore a new museum
Some cities provide better museums than others. Admittedly, none of the museums in Austin excite me. However, if you’re in a cool spot like Houston with a Natural History Museum, go! Austin does have an interesting museum, The Blanton, but otherwise, it’s pretty limited.
Make a meal together
What is something you’ve always wanted to learn how to make? On my current list is GF, potato-free gnocchi. I’m also looking to learn how to make gluten-free drunken noodles. What is something you love at restaurants that you’d love to learn to make now?
Clean
DON’T ROLL YOUR EYES! Lord knows even the best of us has a drawer or a box worth emptying. They say your environment is a reflection of your inner brain’s existence. I know I’m too busy and stressed when the plates and cups begin to pile up. The same goes for storage spaces. Pick your junk drawer or some of the boxes in your closet—cut the ties and Marie Kondo that shit. Doing it together helps you move forward together.
Daydream
Sometimes real life is super freakin’ hard. You’re with your partner because you have dreams and aspirations together, right? Why not spend some time daydreaming? Envision your dream house, even if it’s ridiculous. Do you want your cats to have a whole room to themselves, with the walls filled with landing areas and wooden hills for them to climb? What about a gorgeous wrap-around porch with swings every ten feet? The whole roof a skylight? These can be super fun ways to pass the time and share the connection of imagination together. Who knows…manifestation works in mysterious ways.
Alright folks, there you have it! Hopefully, these self-care tips while planning a wedding helped get the brain juices flowing!
