Check out these Washinton D.C. Family Portraits with my second family!
In September 2013, this lovely person emailed me about her 2014 wedding. Little did I know, she would become a lifetime friend. I did her beautiful Star Wars themed wedding back in Hawaii, but we also began to hang out more and more. She was my assistant through 2014, helping me stay sane while I worked my business AND did college full time. I loved hanging out with her and her family. I’ve had the privilege of watching her kiddos grow up and have photographed them on multiple occasions too.
I remember how she and Marc came to help me move out of the cottage I lived in with my ex, holding back tears as I completely ripped apart my life. Mya even owns my old memory foam mattress LOL They have always been a supportive part of my life, something I’m beyond grateful for. Not a lot of people are consistent in my life, which makes me that much more grateful for their friendship.
Then she abandoned me, left Hawaii and moved to Maryland. LOL I was so sad. We don’t chat as much, since Marc and Karie work incredibly long and hard hours, but every year, she flies me out to Maryland to photograph her family.
This year, I came during the spring and boy, it was fabulous!!! Cherry blossoms, D.C. Monuments, and the worst restaurant experience I’ve had in a long time (I’m not even telling you the name of this disgusting lackluster crazy expensive place. Fuck you very much, gross Italian place).
I love these peeps like they were my own family. I enjoyed spending time with Emma, who is probably the most joyous creature I’ve ever met, ever. Except maybe one adult friend I have…but still. SHE RADIATES joy and is a blast to be around (although a whole day with her was a bit much. How do parents do it?!).
So here are the photos in all of their glory. I can’t wait to go back next year, I love these peeps wholeheartedly.
