Medieval Wedding in Austin
A socially distanced wedding at The Curtain Theater!
This Medieval Wedding in Austin is everything I had hoped for. You might recognize these peeps from the polyamorous family I photograph every year. You can see their polyamorous family portraits here. When Liberty asked me to photograph her wedding to Robert, I was beyond thrilled to be a part of it. See, Robert is a seasoned actor, specializing in Shakespearean plays. This kind of setup is his jam. They had known one another for a while in the polyamorous groups but one thing led to another and there they were, on a date, discovering they were both into horror films (my kinda people). After a movie date, they knew it was meant to be. After Liberty proposed to him, they began planning this amazing event at this replica of the Globe Theater in London, called The Curtain Theater. I had never done a Medieval Wedding in Austin and when she mentioned the theatre, the custom-made breastplate, crown, the sword, EVERYTHING, I almost begged to be a part of it. Boy, it came together so beautifully. The Navy blue, the silver, the amazing wedding party dresses…it was everything I could want to photograph!
It’s such a blessing to follow this family through their evolving existence together. They’re polycule goals, 100%. They have a daughter, Leya, who is growing up in such a loving home. Those wild curls, her strong personality, and of course that amazing little dress!!! I’ve been watching Leya grow up for years now and she’s come a long way from the first family session where she screamed the whole time. One of my favorite photos, which is included, shows her and Robert “sword fighting.” So beyond adorable.
Thanks to amazing vendors that helped bring this whole vision to life! Also, the caterer made me a shark coochie board all for me, accommodating ALL of my food allergies. That’s a serious win in my book!
