Lovin’ this Austin backyard wedding!
Man, April has thrown some weather curveballs. Climate change is real AF, ask any wedding professional who is affected by weather!! Sean and Leah had slaved away for months, getting their backyard ready for their wedding. Of course, it just happened to be planned on the weekend where storms were *terrible*. Flooding out of the wazoo. Suddenly, a cheery spring backyard wedding became a cheery living room wedding!
I generally don’t talk too much about the difficulties I face on wedding days, but man, this wedding presented some complications. Fitting almost 70 people into a normal sized house…I’ve never seen it done before. It was a tight squeeze, for sure! The relief though was that Leah and Shawn took all of these hiccups in stride. They didn’t complain (too much) when their wedding wasn’t as they hoped. Instead, they made the best of it. Wedding days are 90% attitude. I can think of a few people who would have had a complete meltdown if this had happened on their day, but Leah took it with grace and smiles.
On top of planning a wedding at home, Leah also made the cakes! I nearly wept when I got to eat the gluten-free and dairy-free cupcake she made for me. Sooooo good. She bakes cakes for a living, but seriously, few cake makers can make such a richly flavored and textured gluten and dairy free baked good! Highly recommend her if you need allergy friendly cakes for your wedding.
I enjoy weddings like this, pushing my creativity and abilities. We can never grow without being challenged! The word of 2019 is “hustle” and man, I’m fitting that word to a tee. I’m grateful for everything I have going on right now and I can’t wait to see what the universe has in store for me!
Congrats to Shawn and Leah, your day was blessed majorly with all that rain!!
