Cavern Engagement Portraits at Natural Bridge Caverns
I’m in LOVE with these cavern engagement portraits at Natural Bridge Caverns with Lindsey and David. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve photographed in caverns. The last time was ages ago for Ally and Toby’s wedding at Longhorn Caverns. For Lindsey and David, we had to be there EARLY, like 9am, for these images. Nothing some coffee can’t fix! I loved that they showed up in sparkly outfits, trekking up and down the steep path through the caverns, waiting patiently for me to set up a shot. I wore too many layers and ended up sweating like crazy but alas, such is the price to pay for beautiful photos!
If you’ve been around me for a minute, you know I’m always hungry for unique photos. It’s why I decided to make a running list of fun ideas and locations I’m dying to photograph at. You can find the list here. They’re called Adventum Sessions and that’s actually where Lindsey and David decided on this amazing cavern engagement session. When they showed up in a sparkly ensemble (Lindsey actually got her dress at Amazon. YAS!),
When potential clients ask me if they can substitute their engagement session because someone already did them or they don’t want them, I always make sure to point out that I’m sure they don’t want the awkward, “Oh, hi, nice to meet you for the first time,” moment on their wedding day. Playing Gettin’ to Know Ya on your big day is too anxiety-inducing, so I always encourage doing SOMETHING together, to make sure we know how the other works. When I’m able to do these sessions, it helps me get to know my clients more so I can pull out emotion on the wedding day. It’s all more custom and emotional when I know the right buttons to push.
Hopefully, these cavern engagement images will stir up your own creativity! Looking for more unique ideas? Check out this Medieval wedding in Austin!
