Wedding at The Addison Grove

December 28, 2018

Here is a glorious wedding at The Addison Grove!

December has had nothing but incredible experiences so far, including shooting a wedding at The Addison Grove. I mean, how is it already almost 2019? I think if you look back at a lot of my blogs in the last year, it’s filled with incredulity at the passage of time. It’s like I’m trapped in, “Dude, Where’s My Car?” except it’s more like, “Dude, What Just Happened?” with less fast food restaurants (fuck off Gluten) and more yoga (fuck off tight calves).

The day after I landed, I was at Amanda and Ben’s wedding at The Addison Grove, and man, whatta day. It was my first time working with Modern Rebel, which is a feminist wedding planning company in Austin. It was one of my very favorite wedding days, despite it being 30-something degrees outside. They had to switch their wedding from outdoors to indoors (totally normal for a December wedding, beteedubs) but my friend Raven flew in from Austin and didn’t blink an eye.

First, I just want to say…I love The Addison Grove. I mean, it’s a beautiful luxury event space, and it shows. I want to go back so bad. LOL

Anyway, let’s talk about my couple crush on Amanda and Ben. Holy shitballs ya’ll, these are THE nicest people. Like, the nicest. Two weeks before their wedding, Ben sent me this email, asking if I could photograph their rehearsal and if not, he would have to hire someone but assured me, “But if not, that’s cool, and we simply ask for your blessing as we go forth unto the vast internet to find a photographer who we will surely not love in the way that we love you.”

RIGHT? RIGHT?

Then, on the day, they were constantly trying to help and care for everyone. After the wedding, I got my first follow-up email addressed to all vendors, thanking them for their hard work AND linking them for others.

LIKE WHAT. So much gratitude is awe-inducing!

During the day, Amanda was understandably freezing (occasionally turning a nice shade of purple) but did everything I asked and let me push her past her comfort zone. They planned their whole timeline around me, and in return, I brought the fire, literally in some ways. LOL but really, gratitude and trust go a long way with my creativity. I was jet-lagged and tired…but I gave 120%.

It’s peeps like these that just fill me up and keep me going. When my knees ache, my shoulders burn and my toes are frozen, I keep going because my clients are the best.
