Beautiful Wiccan Wedding Inspiration!
I haven’t photographed a Wiccan wedding before, so this was an amazing experience. Trust me, if you’re looking for Wiccan wedding inspiration, this wedding will do it! The other night, I had Drew and Dawnielle to come over and view their photos from their Wiccan wedding at Fiesta Gardens in downtown Austin. I don’t always get the opportunity or time to be there for a photo reveal, but since they hadn’t had the chance to come over for dinner, we took advantage of one of my free Sunday evenings.
These two are…just delightful. Watching them interact, it’s such a blessing to see a couple that has deep mutual respect, kindness, and consideration. I did their engagement session at Genuine Jo’s a few weeks ago, where I talked about the wonderful habits they have together. Their wedding was no different! I haven’t done a lot of Wiccan weddings, but I officially want to do more and be a Wiccan wedding photographer!
First, they had someone conducting sage cleansing as people arrived. Then, as the ceremony began, they had the officiant thank the local Native Americans. THEN, they did an amazing Wiccan ceremony focusing on the four elements, taking time to turn towards NSEW and take a moment to really feel it.
They told me that their officiant even gave them cues for when it was time to be mindful. Often, I saw Drew pause, close her eyes and then take a deep breath. Now I know why!
Then, they had their hand-fasting ceremony. I found out at dinner that on their anniversaries, they made these ropes themselves, promising one more year and a day. Then, they used them all at the ceremony. What an amazing idea! Everything during their wedding was done with incredible intention.
THEN, during their vows, their officiant asked each of them if they would hurt one another. They both responded with, “I may.” and then the officiant asked, “is this your intention?” to which they responded, “no, it is not.” Truly honest vows like that are so rare, and the first time they said it took me by surprise, but I REALLY liked it! THEN, for their cake cutting, they actually fed one another a piece of cake and said, “May you never hunger,” and then took sips of wine and said, “May you never thirst.”
*swoon*
I just loved every inch of this wedding. Drew even made her cape on the week of the wedding and wow! It was truly stunning! Can I please do more intentional weddings like this?! I love Wiccan weddings, but this one definitely takes the cake! Let me be your Wiccan wedding photographer!
