Check out this stunning Angel Springs Event Center wedding!
Before I get to this Angel Springs Event Center wedding, I want to tell you what it’s like to shoot a wedding while sick! Good lordt, shooting a wedding while sick is a special kind of hell. The kids had some cold the week before and despite every sensible precaution, I got a nasty head cold that started the day before this wedding and the last days after the wedding. Let’s be honest with one another…I haven’t been taking care of myself. This year has been very hard on me, with lots of bumps, dips, and crashes. Vegetables are a frenemy on the best of days. I prefer nuggets. And pizza. and other bullshit stuff that a thirty-three-year-old shouldn’t actually be consuming on a regular basis. On top of that, EVERY WINTER since I moved to Texas, I GET SICK. Usually, it’s cedar fever (I only learned last year I had this allergy) but this winter…I’ve got it all.
And on this particular day, my severe sinus infection was ramping up and my meds weren’t working. It was *rough*. I am a firm believer that no matter what, photographers show up on the wedding day. The only legitimate reason is you’re freshly broken in multiple bones, on your death bed, or if a child/spouse has died. This is, of course, only my opinion. But I take my job *very* seriously. But I’ve gotten into a car wreck right before a wedding and then show up only 15 minutes late to the day. I’ve shot a wedding on a broken foot. I’ve shot with a broken hand. I’ve shot with ulcers so bad, I couldn’t eat. I’ve shot with depression so bad, I wasn’t sure I would be alive the next week.
Professional photographers show the hell up.
But boy….the experience is misery. LOL I feel blessed that I’ve been doing this long enough that even on terrible days, my autopilot still slams it out of the ballpark. In fact, I think I push myself even harder on those days because I never want to feel like I haven’t given 110%. I was looking forward to Travis and Rachel’s big day at Angel Springs Event Center for ages, ever since their engagement session. They’re SO CUTE together. I’ve had a few meals with them and absolutely adore them. They’re just super nice people and frankly, so madly in love, it’s infectious. They read their vows to one another at the first look, which was a lovely intimate touch to the day. I love hearing written vows, it really gives a solid glimpse into the beauty of their personal dynamic.
Here’s hoping I can recover before cedar fever comes at me swinging. Get me some kale, stat!
