I want to tell you all about this wedding and how Austin’s best wedding vendors planned a wedding in eleven days, but first, a catch up moment! As I’m sure you’ve gathered from past blogs, I am SWAMPED with my masters right now. It’s not quite as difficult, yet, as I expected it to be. However, it is still more effort than I’d like to give right now. However, I can already see myself becoming an even better writer so here’s hoping I survive the next seven weeks. Other facets of my life have also been insane. I, like most of you, had hoped 2020 would be kinder than 2019. Lies. It’s just 2019’s meaty brother on steroids. Ugh. Anyway, let’s move on to why we’re here! Imagine my reaction when I read this:
“Hey guys, I’m planning a wedding for 2/1/20. Yes, you read that date right. My client is getting married in eleven days! We need all of the vendors!”
That is, in a nutshell, what I saw on FB from my friend Cassie, from Truly Together Event Co.. I am so glad I reached out because this ended up being an amazingly wild ride. Caitlin and Jon decided to just do it or rather, execute actions as Jon would put it. Army dudes, amirite? hah! No, but really, this wedding birthed from the idea of a simple courthouse elopement. Except for the special wedding dinner…the guest list kept growing. Suddenly, it’s bloated to a cool 60+ peeps and the lovebirds realized that most restaurants would call that a buyout. So, they decided to have the reception at Eberly, but the ceremony? Yeah, the ceremony was happening on a friggin’ BRIDGE. All of Austin’s best wedding vendors came together to make this modern chic very Austin wedding come together.
I showed up on the day and the first thing Caitlin did was take a shot of Fireball whiskey. “They called me Fireball in business school,” she told me. Caitlin took the idea of Chillzilla to a whole new level. She had her head on straight: as long as she ended up married to John by the end of the day, the details could take care of themselves. Or not. She didn’t give a shit. We even did a totally last minute laid back first look at The Westin on the rooftop! GORGEOUS!
Caitlin is just…probably one of my favorite people. She wanted everyone to have a good time. Her dress was filthy and she didn’t care. Why would she care? She had been up until 3am partying with her friends and still looked like a goddess.
One of my favorite parts of the day though was during the cake cutting. The booze and food were delectable and remember, she had been taking shots all day like a damn champion. But she reached Champion-Goddess-Better-Than-Vintage-Madonna level when she paused mid-cake cutting and goes, “excuse me! CAN I GET A DRINK?” while slapping the bar top. It was glorious.
They skipped most of the traditional stuff, preferring to just eat and drink until the merriment was the theme of the night. There was some boogying, but really, it was all about being chill. I’m honestly so impressed how many of their friends and family showed up in less than two weeks notice!
As you can tell, I loved this wedding. I loved that my friends, Austin’s best wedding vendors, freakin’ KILLED IT.
