You know, it’s funny…I have been doing this for six years. Almost 200 weddings and I still get surprised. I feel like i’ve seen a lot of it. But Tira wearing her grandmother’s seventy year old dress…that’s somethin’. Especially the way they modernized it! Taking the sleeves off and everything!
I remember asking to photograph the dress, but her mom fretfully insisted on carrying it outside. She told me how Tirza’s grandmother wore it on HER wedding day, then her deceased aunt wore it on HER wedding day and then Tirza’s mother wore it on HER wedding day and there was Tirza, wearing it on HER wedding day. Tirza had it modified to sleeveless, but I imagined being a little girl, knowing already what wedding dress you were going to wear.
and having that manifest into one glorious, beautiful day? Amazing. Who could ask for more? June is a hot but perfect time to get wedded!
Sidenote: Tirza is probably one of the sweetest brides I’ve ever had, to the point where I had to INSIST she stop apologizing. What are we, Canadians?? hah! But she was simply the sweetest. Within a few minutes, I was offered water AND margaritas. And food. I mean…that’s pretty amazing. haha
On the groom’s side of things, Danny is a quiet guy. Also, any man that looks at his lady like she’s made of liquid gold is a winner in my book! They were highschool sweethearts, having a long distance relationship between Dallas and Austin while Tirza finished up her masters. It made planning difficult, as I’m sure you can imagine! And now….they can live happily ever after. I’m so happy for these two, they really truly belong together!
