Oh man. It’s 2019. This is my *first blog* for 2019. NO PRESSURE.
2018 was such an interesting year. It was more therapy, more self-care and finally….a years worth of hustling put into four months. LOL I’m not tired, you’re tired. Okay okay, we’re all tired. Yet, despite my exhaustion of working 80 hour work weeks since the end of September, I AM SO PUMPED FOR 2019!!! I have this massive four foot tall white board by my desk, with 12 goals written in pink marker on it. It ranges from “book 35 weddings” to “do one stand up show.” yesterday, I spent the morning plotting out a new novel, although I should really edit the one I wrote last year haha! I also invested in a brand new day planner that caught my eye in Hawaii. I *love* it so much. On the flight back from Hawaii, I sat on the plane and contemplated what I wanted to do with my life this year. I then began to write tasks to tackle my goals throughout the year. Already, it’s SO helpful. Everything is written in erasable pen too, in case a day becomes too overwhelming. It just feels SO GOOD so cross off things I’ve done and manage my energy better. It’s all about avoiding burn out, y’all!
The word of the year is “hustle.” Last year was “nourish” and I definitely did that! It’s just been difficult, wading through crippling depression and crawling out of that deep abyss. Was it wise to shove a year’s worth of hustling into four months? Maybe. Maybe not. Only time will tell. What I keep focusing on, what I keep asking myself is, “what can I do today that future me will thank me for?” Sometimes, future me would be grateful if I just took three minutes to be mindful. Sometimes, it’s making sure I sleep for a while. Sometimes, it means getting B12 shots, even though I hate needles. Yikes.
