Abby and Johnny

In love with this Austin Pagan Wedding!

I’m so excited to share my first Austin Pagan Wedding with you!! I’m open to all religions and belief systems, but paganism is one of my favorites. It brings us back to nature in a way other beliefs can’t. Any time I work with my clients, I have a few go-to prompts to get people relaxing and having fun. One of my favorites is, “tell XXX what you think is the sexiest vegetable.” The answers vary. Eggplant, peach (yes I know this isn’t a veggie haha), banana, green beans, etc. I love hearing the answers; it’s why it’s one of my favorite prompts. Johnny, however, threw me for a loop. He’s a playful kind of human, a perpetual twinkle in his eye. So as he squeezed Abby in tightly, he whispered, “Steven Hawking.” *dead*

And thus, the funniest thing I’ve ever heard on a wedding day occurred. I cannot believe how often I am surprised doing my job, but I love how it never gets old. My clients always keep me on my toes, and that is amazing.

This was my first Austin Pagan Wedding, hosted at House on the Hill, and I have been dying to do one. I love all of the intentions that went into the handfasting, with vows recited at each loop of the rope. The altar had meaningful totems, including busts of Thor and Freya, as well as things that were meaningful for them as a couple. There was also fake blood, if you noticed. They did a sacrifice the day before, then commemorated the couple joining. It was just a beautiful day, and everyone was a delight. You know I love an easygoing and relaxed kind of event! I even had some of the guys jump in the pool at the end, which was amazing!

Summer is going by so quickly that I keep forgetting we are in August! I’m starting my master’s this week and trying not to get overwhelmed already! I also started my standup class, which I’m already really enjoying. I wanted a place to begin, and the class has already got me going in the right direction!

Enjoy the rest of your summer, and stay tuned for more blog goodness!
