You know, it’s funny how I have been doing this for six years, almost 200 weddings and I still get surprised. Somehow, I’ve gotten to the point where I’ve never see a bride wear a dress that was kept in the family, but Tirza, who grew up planning her wedding day since she was about seven-years-old, wore a stunning sixty-year-old dress.
I remember asking to photograph the dress, but her mom fretfully insisted on carrying it outside. She told me how Tirza’s grandmother wore it on HER wedding day, then her deceased aunt wore it on HER wedding day and then Tirza’s mother wore it on HER wedding day and there was Tirza, wearing it on HER wedding day. Tirza had it modified to sleeveless, but I imagined being a little girl, knowing already what wedding dress you were going to wear.
and having that manifest into one glorious day? Amazing.
Tirza is probably one of the sweetest brides I’ve ever had, to the point where I had to INSIST she stop apologizing. What are we, Canadians?? hah! But she was simply the sweetest. Within a few minutes, I was offered water AND margaritas. And food. I mean…that’s pretty amazing. haha
Danny is a quiet guy, but also, any man that looks at his lady like she’s made of liquid gold is a winner in my book! They were high school sweethearts, having a long distance relationship between Dallas and Austin while Tirza finished up her masters. And now….they can live happily ever after.
