Maybe this makes me pompous, but it feels damn good when people search you out because they like your photography. Rick, a hair stylist with his own salon in San Antonio, called me a few weeks ago, hoping I was available to be his photographer. I hesitated, because I was PACKED to the brim with work. Every single day for the next three weeks had been spoken for. The thought of adding an additional client made me want to cry, but he raved about my work and well…who the hell am I to turn down someone who loves my work?
We settled on a brunch elopement, because I had no more evenings to give until late July. I showed up at this wooden gate on a windy empty road, a little nervous, trying not to let my imagination go wild. Some roads here in Texas are a bit terrifying! Rick let me in though, all smiles, even in the humid summer heat. These two have been together for ages and had already married in two different states, but since they’re looking to expand their family soon with adoption, they found out it would be easier to get hitched in Texas as well.
They didn’t want to do an exchange of rings, however, they had a moment of silence for Orlando. Especially after that horrific event, it’s more important than ever for me to provide a safe space for all humans. They lit the candles (while we all silently prayed for the breeze to stop for just one second please!) and then when it was done, a quick kiss and lingering tear filled hug finished it off.
Then we went around and took some fun portraits, drinking a little champagne, followed by getting SOAKED in the pool! Yes, even I was soaked because I DID NOT think the “do a cannonball” request through. haha!
I loved meeting these two and so glad to add them to the tribe. <3
